**Numbers**

In this blog we are going to study different types of Numbers. In our day to day life we are using numbers such as counting money, time & also different things also. We can define number as **“ Number is an arithmetic value which we use to count, measure & label the things”.**

**Types of Number**

**1) Natural Number-**

Natural number is the most familiar number which is also known as **counting number**. It counts the integer from 1 to ∞ .

The set of natural number is represented by N.

**Ex. N = 1,2,3,4,5,6……….**

** **

**2) Whole Number-**

Whole number is nothing but the **Zero includes in the natural number. **It is denoted by W. Set of whole number includes,

**Ex. W = 0,1,2,3,4….**

** **

**3) Integer Number-**

**When we include negative set of natural number in whole number then the Integer numbers are form. ** It also defined as a number that can be written without a fractional component. **It is denoted by Z**. Set of Integer Number includes,

** Ex. Z = …..-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3..…**

** **

**4) Real Number-**

** All the positive and negative integers, fractional and real numbers without imaginary number is known as real number.** Real means not imaginary.

Also Real number that includes decimal point are also called floating point number as decimal floats between the digits.

**Real number is represented by R.**

Ex R =….-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3…., 1/4 , o.5, -0.8625 etc.

**Nearly any number you can think of is a real number.**

** **

**5) Even Number-**

**Those numbers which are completely divided by 2 are called even number.**

**Ex. 2,4,6…..50….1000…etc.**

If we divide the above numbers, we will get remainder 0, means given numbers are exactly divided by 2.

**6) Odd Number-**

**Those numbers which can not be completely divided by 2 are called Odd numbers. **

**Ex. 1,3,5,7…….51…101….505…1001..etc.**

If we divide above numbers, we will get 1 in remainder means above numbers are not exactly divided by 2, so they all are odd number**. **

** **

**7) Composite Number-**

**Composite Number is nothing but product of two or more number.**

**Ex. 9, 15, 35, 105, 81 etc. **

Explanation: 3 x3 = 9, 3 x 5 = 15, 7 x 5 = 35, 3 x 5x 7 = 105,

3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 81 As given all numbers are product of two or more number they all are composite number.

**8) Prime Number-**

**Those number which cannot be divided by any other number except one and itself are called Prime number.**

They are also known as** indivisible number.**

**Ex. 2,3,5,7,11,13,17….31…91…etc.**

**1 is neither a prime number nor a composite number. **Prime number can not have even number in their unit place.** 2 is the only even prime number. **

** **

**9) Rational Number-**

**Any number that can written in the form of ratio of one number by another number is known as rational number.**

**Rational number is denoted by Q.**

We can say Q = p/q

Means any number that can be written in the form p/q.

**Ex. 1/4, 0.5, 1/7, 0.14257142857 etc.**

**10) Irrational Number- **

**Irrational means not Rational.**

**The number which cannot be represented as the ratio of one number over another number is known as irrational number.**

**It is represented by P.**

Very popular example of irrational number is ∏(pi).

∏ = 3.1415…………….= ?/?(No ratio)

∏ = 22/7 is closer but not accurate.

Ex. ∏, √2, √3 etc.

** **

**11) Complex Number-**

**Complex number is the number that can be written in the form of a + bi.**

Where, a & b are real number

i is imaginary number

**Complex number is represented by C.**

e.g. 2+5i, 6+7i, 16 + 5i
